Horsham Veterinary
Hospital's diagnostic skills have been well honed over more than two decades
because we know that proper treatment of a pet requires proper diagnosis. Our diagnostic services include the
below listed methods:
Digital Radiology
The Hospital utilizes modern digital X-ray equipment, which eliminates the time delays of developing films and reading them on a lightbox, providing clear pictures for diagnosis in a matter of seconds. When time is of the essence digital X-rays are a tremendous time saver. The X-rays can be simultaneously viewed by staff in different parts of the Hospital and can be transmitted over the Internet allowing consultations with other doctors and outside specialists when needed. Our highly-trained veterinary technicians and our modern digital equipment allow us to make quick and complete evaluations of a variety of medical problems and injuries. We can diagnose possible orthopedic injury, evaluate chest and abdominal ailments, gastro-intestinal system obstructions, and some soft tissue conditions such as lung and heart problems.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound, an advanced, non-invasive diagnostic
tool has only recently become more available in veterinary medicine. Our
ultrasound equipment allows us to more quickly perform pregnancy checks,
non-invasive diagnosis of soft tissue problems, including heart disease,
cancer, and bladder stones, the presence of tumors, damage to tendons and
ligaments.Ultrasound enables us to
diagnose the many conditions with a certainty that we would not have without the
technology onsite
Laboratory
Routine
lab work, including fecal parasite exams, heartworm tests, CBC and chemistry
profiles, electrolytes, and urinalyses are performed onsite by registered
Animal Health Technicians. Twice daily pick-ups by an off-site laboratory
provide complete and timely results for the most complex tests.
Examinations
There is no substitute
for a head-to-tail physical examination of your pet by a qualified veterinarian
who has spent years learning how to identify problems, conditions, or
illnesses. All of our doctors are not
only highly trained, but also have years of veterinary experience that they
bring into the examination room.Regular
examinations help keep your pet healthy by assuring early treatment of any
disorder.Be sure to have your pet
examined regularly.
Echocardiography
Echocardiography,
an ultrasound diagnostic tool in cardiology, is a recent addition to the
diagnostic tools in veterinary medicine. It is a noninvasive method for evaluating the anatomy and function of the
heart and large blood vessels and is a significant technological advance in
veterinary medicine. An
echocardiographic examination is an important diagnostic tool in cardiovascular
evaluations.
Endoscopy
Endoscopy
allows a visual examination of internal organs and body parts without invasive
exploratory surgery through the use of fiber-optic instrumentation. Special
video cameras attached to the endoscope allow viewing of the exam on a screen. The advantage of endoscopy over other methods
of evaluating is that it is less invasive. The technique allows for
visualization of the lining of the digestive system and for taking samples of
the lining of these organs, including biopsies. Many foreign bodies in the
esophagus and stomach may be removed via endoscopy.
