Veterinarians

Dr. Joseph DiMauro, the founder and proprietor of Horsham Veterinary Hospital, graduated (Dean's List) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 and went on to earn a Master’s of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Administration from Temple University.  He founded Horsham Veterinary Hospital in 1986.

Dr. DiMauro is actively involved in community affairs. He is treasurer of the Delaware Valley Academy of Veterinary Medicine. He is a past Chairman of the Board of the Suburban Horsham Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce.  He served on the Board of Directors of the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation and is a past President of the Horsham Rotary. As a member of the Hatboro-Horsham Partners in Education, he speaks frequently at career days and other forums. He has also spoken nationally about the practice of veterinary medicine. He is a recipient of the Small Business Administration Entrepreneurial Success award for Southeastern Pennsylvania and has also received a commendation from State Senator Stewart Greenleaf.  In addition to his wife and three children, his family includes Deuce, a German Shepherd; Fredo and Massimo, Boston Terriers; Vanilla, a French Bulldog; and Cecil, a Blue-Fronted Amazon Parrot.

Dr. Donna Riddle received her Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from the Pennsylvania State University and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Microbiology from the Medical College of Pennsylvania before graduating from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She is a board certified medical technologist and worked for many years in the laboratory at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Bryn Mawr Hospital.  She joined the staff of Horsham Veterinary Hospital in 2002.  In her spare time, Dr. Riddle spends time at home with two Jack Russell Terriers, Eli and Johnny, and one chow, Henry.
 
Dr. Amie Balandovich Graduated from the University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 1995. She joined the staff of Horsham Veterinary Hospital in 2005. Previously she worked with marine mammals and wildlife and in an emergency clinic.  Her veterinary interests include internal medicine and dermatology.  When not working, Dr. Balandovich enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pets.
Dr. Christine Tranchida graduated from University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 and joined the staff of Horsham Veterinary Hospital in 1997.  Dr. Tranchida has a strong interest in educating pet owners, and she enjoys answering questions and helping people get off to a good start with their new pets.  She and her husband keep busy with their three children and all of their furry kids: two dogs, Alakazam, and Pluto and two adorable cats, Toby and Merlin.
Dr. Lisa Van der Gaag graduated (Summa Cum Laude) from University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and joined the staff of Horsham Veterinary Hospital in 1998.  When Dr. Van der Gaag is not busy with veterinary medicine, she spends her time with her husband, two daughters, and a menagerie of pets: dogs, cats, fish, and various orphans that need some TLC on their way to finding good homes.
 
jromanoDr.  Jennifer Romano joined the staff of Horsham Veterinary Hospital in 2015.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a minor in Biotechnology/Bioengineering from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. She then went on to graduate from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.  After graduation, Dr. Romano completed an intensive program in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery in New York City.  Outside of work, Dr. Romano loves to dance, paint and explore Philadelphia, where she lives with her husband and Labrador retriever mix, Jet.
